Tutorial - Creating A Strum Effect In Piano Roll

Skill Level Needed: Moderate

The following video and text walkthrough applies to Fruity Loop Studio 8 XXL Producer's Ed.

First click on "Piano Roll Options" otherwise known as the arrow in the top left corner of your piano roll. Scroll down to "Tools", and then "Strum...". Before the previous however you need a chord or series of notes that you want to be strummed. Once the notes are highlighted click on "Strum" or press "Alt + S" on your keyboard. This will bring up the strum window.

The main concern for the basic user is the "Time" knob within your strumizer. The left most knob controls the strumming of the chord/notes as a whole, and the right most knob controls the final note or highest note on the chord. The "Alternate Direction" button at the bottom of your strumizer controls which way the chord is played: Low to High or High to Low. Thus changing which note the right most knob controls.

The other concern are the "Velocity" knobs. Again the left most knob controls the chord/notes as a whole and the right most knob controls only the last note. For information on the other buttons provided to you in the strumizer you can email me at Geistsoul13@gmail.com or stay tuned for a future video and text walkthrough.
